Bacon Explosion

July 9th, 2009

baconCheck out this great post on the Bacon Explosion website. It’s a recipe for how to create a sure fire heart attack. But what a way to go! Here’s a list of ingredients:

  • 2 pounds thick cut bacon
  • 2 pounds Italian sausage
  • 1 jar of your favorite barbeque sauce
  • 1 jar of your favorite barbeque rub

Yep, that’s right. 4 pounds of meat, woven together as in the picture at the right, slathered in barbeque stuff. The finished product looks kind of like a juicy football, but you’ll have to see for yourself at the Bacon Explosion site.

Meanwhile, you can search for loads of more, um, reasonable, bacon recipes at Primo Recipes.

Barbecue Master Serves Up Grilled Pork Loin

June 19th, 2009

bbqmasterI’m really enjoy the Barbecue Master blog, full of great recipes for all sorts of things on the grill. This weekend, I’ve got barbecued pork on my mind, maybe in anticipation of the family coming to visit for July 4. The recipe I’m highlighting here is called Grilled Pork Loin with Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauce, and, as you can see from the picture here, it looks terrific. Cyndi Allison, who writes the blog, has a terrific, personable way of writing, including  tips and tricks, products she uses, and general observations. Here’s a short excerpt:

Normally I grill by sight and touch, but it’s kind of hard to tell on bigger cuts of meat. I finally did what I should have done long ago and got a grill thermometer. It’s a Maverick Redi Chek Remote. It makes sense to use a thermometer, because you can’t really tell about the center of a bigger piece of smoked meat.

Check out the Barbecue Master blog, when you get a chance. You can also try Primo Recipes to search for grilled pork loin recipes, grilled pork chop recipes, and all sorts of grilling recipes that include bacon (which tends to make most food taste better) :-).

Grill Salmon This Summer

June 9th, 2009

salmonWhen the weather turns consistently nice, I find myself firing up the grill when I get home from work, almost without even thinking about it. One of my favorite foods to grill is salmon. I recently found a great recipe for grilled salmon with balsamic vinegar on the blog All Things Italian, featuring ingredients from the All Things Italian store in Montana.

Another great way to find grilled salmon recipes is to search for them on PrimoRecipes.com. Just type “grilled salmon” into the search box, and more than 1000 recipes display in order of most to least relevant.

Primo Recipes views relevance as a factor of not only search relevance, but also number of reviews, ratings, and pictures. Together, this set of data increases the likelihood that the salmon recipe - or any other reicpe - you choose will be delicious and easy to make. Please give it a try and let us know what you think.

Elle’s New England Kitchen Features Great Recipes

June 1st, 2009

ellesburgerI’ve been reading Elle’s New England Kitchen, a terrific foodie blog with load of great recipes (and photos, as you can see). I’m sort of a burger fanatic - especially in the summer - but I’m also watching my fat and red meat intake, so I was thrilled to see last week’s post - a recipe for pesto parmesan turkey burgers. I’m posting just a small part of the recipe (the burger part) to give you a sense of what’s there - you’ll need to go to Elle’s New England Kitchen for the full recipe.

Pesto Parmesan Turkey Burgers

1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
1 1/4 cups grated fresh parmesan
1/2 cup prepared pesto
1 1/2 tsp garlic pepper rub
1/2 cup bread crumbs

To read more, see: Elle’s New England Kitchen: Pesto Parmesan Turkey Burgers and Some New England Sights. We’d love to know what you think, and if you have other great burger recipes for us to try.
